Wolverhampton & District Area – September 07 report

Area Changes

Wolverhampton & District area has now completed its boundary changes and joined forces with Cannock and Midlands West. As a result of the changes the chairman and secretary of the old W’ton area ( Greg and Lisa Pask ) have stepped down and we thank them for their past efforts. 

A new committee has now been set up combining committee members from all 3 merged areas and our first full meeting was held on Tuesday 4 September in Walsall.

Our new committee is : 

Claire Perry ( Chair – ex Cannock )

Ray Parker ( Treasurer – ex W’ton )

Rob Cotterell ( Secretary – ex Cannock )

Scott Williams – ( Committee – ex Midlands West )

Jeff Norman ( Committee – ex Cannock ) 

We have received good support from Ruth Bentley during the changeover period and continue to do so.   

Current Activities:

• The Area has a caravan at Blue Anchor bay in Somerset, which is well used by our members. The season will draw to a close when the site closes for the winter at the end of October.
• We currently supply discounted cinema tickets to our members and will shortly expand this to include both UCI and Showcase Cinemas.
• We have given grants to clubs set up by our members including Badminton, Football,Golf and Cricket and to CSA and HMRC Sports and Social Clubs
• Other individual members who take part in sport and leisure activities have a % of their outlay refunded in cash on production of receipts, and we have also contributed to the expenses of a member from RAF Cosford who is taking part in a British Triathlon event..
• In August we issued a mailshot through the post to all of our members, encouraging them to be a part of CSSC and to supply their e mail addresses to make future contact with them easier. Response so far has been encouraging although not as much as we would have hoped for.
• At the end of October Ruth will be holding a recruitment campaign in our area and we will be issuing free cinema tickets to new members who join as a result of the campaign, and to existing members who provide their e mail addresses for our database.
• As a result of the recruitment going on in our Area we have entered the AA challenge.
